For dan-level results, Zhao Nian Chen (NJ) came in first at 5-1 in Tier 1 (4D-6D+); Jim Huang (CA) came in second at 5-1;and Robert Oto (CA) came in third at 3-2.  Zhao Nian is a high school player, and was a Redmond Cup finalist this summer.  Five out of the six players in Tier 1 were students. In Tier 2 (3D), Ryan Smith (OR) came in first at 3-0; Adam Miller (CA) came in second at2-1. In Tier 3 (2D), Tomoko Kotera (MN) took first at 2-0; Masaya Tsukamoto (CA) and Tak Cheng (NY) tied for second at 2-1 (their losses coming to Ms. Kotera).  Tomoko Kotera is a middle school student and has now promoted two rounds in a row. In Tier 4 (1D-1K), Robert Muldowney (NJ) took first at 3-0; Lionel Zhang (NY) took second at 1-1,and Masaaki Hamaguchi (NJ) took third at 1-1. Lionel Zhang is an elementary school player. Jessica and Katherine Lin, two nine-year-old identical twins, placed first and second in the open section of the January 16 Boulder (CO) Library Kids' Go Tournament. Third place was Antonia Lin (no relation).  The first place winners of the other sections were: Jae-Hyun Choi for A, Yaphet Tewahade for B, Nicolas Ledru for C and Siyang Sun for D. The youngest player, Justin Pappas, who at only five years of age is able to challenge some of the older kids, won a special award.
