Six Ways to Help the American Go Foundation

If you want to support the growth and development of a sustainable go culture in the United States, here are some ways to help:

Give Money: The AGF is a small but efficient foundation where more than 90% of your contribution goes directly to program support. And remember, you can deduct 100% of your support for the AGF from your taxable income. Send your check payable to The American Go Foundation. You can submit your donation by mail. American Go Association members can also donate donate via the AGA's online application form.

Secure A Corporate Matching Donation: Some large corporations encourage their employees to make charitable contributions by matching employee donations. For example, if an IBM employee donates $1000 to the AGF, IBM will match with an additional $1000. If your employer has such a program, your donation will count double.

Find A Local Sponsor: Earmarked contributions for educational and cultural events are tax deductible. Somewhere in your community, there is a local business or individual who would be willing to support educational activities, if a tax deduction was available. The right kind of support actually could qualify for a tax deduction. Write agf@usgo.org for more information

In-Kind Support: The AGF produces and distributes various materials to organizers and instructors. If you have access to means of producing printed materials, CD-ROMs, playing equipment or other products and services, maybe you can help. Contact agf@usgo.org.

Bequest: An earmarked remembrance in your will can extend your legacy, build an endowment for go, and extend your support for American go to future players.

Start Teaching: Besides helping to grow the AGF's funds, it's time to do something worthy of AGF support. Start an extracurricular club at a local high school or college. Teach go in an after-school program. Visit classes to provide enriched content for math, world studies and other subjects. We want to help! Contact the AGF mentoring program at agf@usgo.org.
