This page tells you everything you need to know to organize a Congress in your area.

Step 1: Pick A Year
Potential organizers should first reach agreement with the AGA about a year for which to present a proposal. Congresses are scheduled several years in advance, and the Congress likes to travel from region to region, so the farther away it is one year, the better your chances of bidding for the following year. Be persistent and you should be able to get in the schedule .

From this point on, the AGA will work with you every step of the way. The documents below tell you how to prepare a successful proposal and budget, and and how to organize the necessary tasks.

How to Start a Go Congress: tells you the first steps you need to take to get ready to actually apply to host a US Go Congress.

The Concise US Go Congress Handbook: 135 pages of solid guidance on every aspect of Congress development and management, based on 22 years of experience.

Congress Task List: A breakdown of areas of responsibility you will need to assign to members of your Congress team.

Congress Time Line: Everything you will need to do and when you need to do it.

Congress Program: This sample program from the 2003 Congress contains all the necessary text to serve as a basis for making up your Congress brochure.

Congress Hosting Application Form: If you've read all of the above, and you're still interested in hosting a US Go Congress, you're ready to begin the process by filling out this application form and sending it in. E-mail to the AGA Congress liaison, the ASGA's point person, who will help you every step of the way; or follow mail/fax instructions on the form.

Congress MOU: At each year's National Assembly, the team that will present the following year's Congress gives a presentation. Then the Congress Director and the AGA President sign this document, and it's official!
