As usual, Yuan Zhou’s lesson is chock full of useful material.  But in this game between middle kyu players, Yuan Zhou highlights an example of the power of a ponnuki that keeps on giving.  The ponnuki directly or indirectly helps fighting over more than half the board, and for more than half the game.

Yuan Zhou 7 dan is one of the strongest players in the US.  He has won many titles.  Zhou is also a popular teacher, lecturer, and author.  He lives in Germantown, MD, and can be reached at .
