Calvin Sun 1P covers his roller-coaster game from the recent 2014 Cotsen Open. The advantage changes side many times, but in the end his opponent is the last to miss a big chance. Sun’s clear variations and explanations of the mistakes can give better understanding to players of all strengths.

Calvin Sun 1P is our newest AGA certified professional, but he has been a mainstay of the youth go scene for over a decade. He first came to national attention when he was just 7 years old, and became a finalist in the 2005 Redmond Cup. He went on to win the Redmond Cup the following year, and was the reigning Junior Champion the year after as well. Already 6 dan by the age of ten, he dominated most of the events he played in, and represented the US at the World Youth Goe Championships an unprecedented seven times. Sun is a student of Mingjiu Jiang 7P, and lives in the Los Angeles area.
