In this lesson, Guo Juan 5p covers an exciting AlphaGo move early in the 1st game with Lee Sedol 9p. Until this game, AlphaGo’s move has been considered a mistake generally.

The analysis covers quite a bit of ground, so please be patient. The 1st variation below explains 3 relevant josekis, and then compares those joseki concepts with the Lee v. AlphaGo game and another recent pro game. The 2nd variation gives a couple more pro games to show AlphaGo’s move in yet two more slightly different contexts.

Guo Juan gives this overview: “In this article I am going to share my studies about one of the exciting AlphaGo moves. This analysis is just my own, I hope you will like it.”
