Solution follows    (or click here to download SGF)

Correct.
(You might try downloading the SGF, which has more variations than those here, and also allows playing through the variations more easily.)

Black 1 is the proper way to start. White must respond to Black 1 or die immediately. Black 3 and 5 only seem to hand White more stones to capture. Did Black just learn how to play go, or what?!

Continuation.
White 6 makes a huge capture, but Black 7 reveals a fatal weakness in White's position. Maybe Black isn't a beginner after all. White's toughest defense may be at 8. But Black 9 creates a dead eye shape for White. White can try to wriggle for another eye, but through Black 15, White is dead.

White variation.
If White tries for a seki with 10, Black can create a dead eye shape through 13.

Failure.
Black 1 and 3 (at 6) is the incorrect move order. When White plays 8, Black has no time to play the killing move at 10.
