How much eye space must White have to guarantee 2 eyes?
This problem shows that eye space is like money; knowing how much is good enough to live on can be a difficult question!

Analysis:

Solution follows    (or click here to download SGF)

Correct.
Black 1 and 3 are the only try if Black wants to kill everything.

See the SGF for many more variations.

Continuation.
White 4 captures 13 stones, which you would think is surely enough for 2 eyes. But you would be wrong. Black 5 exposes a fatal flaw in White's position. After White 12, Black simply connects and White ony has 1 eye.

White variation.
With 8, White can try to escape to the outside. But assuming that the ladder works for Black, Black 9 and 11 captures White.

Black failure.
Black 5 looks strong, but is a mistake. After White defends through move 12, Black has run out of steam. White lives.
