Problem diagram.
White's response to Black's marked play?

Solution follows    (or click here to download SGF)

Vulgar style.
Even many strong players would unthinkingly play at White 1. White makes another forcing move at 3, but after Black 4, White has to protect his cutting point. But White 5 is a "Thank you" move that just helps Black strengthen his position with 6.

White variation.
White 3 is better than the previous diagram, but after 6, Black is still stronger and White still has to worry about the cut.

Correct.
White 1 is correct. If you saw this tesuji, and fully understood the proper follow ups, then you are quite a strong player. Black 2 responds to the threat of White playing there. With 3, White is not finished making brilliant moves. White is now guaranteed an excellent result. Moves 4 and 5 are miai for White. If Black insists with 4, White 9 is yet another nice tesuji. With White 11, Black's result is disastrous.
