Correct.
Amazingly, White 1 is the only nove. Surely, Black only
needs to cut off White with 2 to save his Black corner
stones and kill White? And White's throw-in at 3 only seems
to help Black make eyes! But with 5, Black is in a shortage
of liberties. Black 6 desparately seeks to gain some
freedoms, but White has time to make 2 eyes through 9.
Black variation.
Black can also try to make an eye for his bottom side stones
with 2. But once again, with 7, White simultaneously
threatens a capture and 2 eyes.
Black variation.
Black 2 is the toughest defense. White 5 is a
throw-in at 7. And White duplicates the throw-in
with 7. And Black's liberty nightmare recurs with White
threatening both a capture and 2 eyes.
