Very bad.
The joseki choice with Black 1 is horrible. Black defends with the proper move at 7 in gote. But even worse is that White establishes a position in the important top area. Black's joseki tries to project influence down the right side, but White's marked stone makes that influence meaningless.

Correct.
Something like the pincer at 1 feels right here, which works with Black's other stones on the left to build a moyo. The top area is the key area for both sides. If White jumps out to the center with 2, Black simply defends solidly at 3.

White variation.
If White jumps into the corner with 2, Black blocks at 3, again adding influence to the top.
