Black 1 ensures that White doesn't make a gain in the corner.
White can do no better than 4.
Black 7 turns the corner into a gote seki.

White variation.
White takes a loss compared to the previous diagram by varying with 4.
Through 9 though, White seems ready to capture some Black stones.

Continuation diagram.
White 10 captures the Black stones, but
with the under the stones play at 11, Black recaptures
some White stones. In addition, Black makes some corner territory,
so this diagram is worse for White than the first diagram above.
