An outright mistake.
White 1 is a big overplay.
Black 2 captures the White stone.
Slack.
White 1 is better than the previous diagram, but still slack.
Black 2 protects the cutting point in sente, because White
now has to defend with 3 to save his stone.
Correct.
White 1 is the best endgame move in this part of the board!
White 1 is a relatively small first move, but sets up
a large next move.
By defending, Black would end in gote, so Black plays
elsewhere with 2.
But then White has the big sente follow up at 3.
Black ends in gote with 4, after which White is 5 points
better than in the previous diagram.
