Correct.
Splitting White in two with Black 1 is the move that works.
At first glance, White 2 appears to be able to capture the 3 stones.
But after Black 5, White's shortage of liberties
becomes painfully obvious.
Through 9, Black captures the stones in a snapback.
White variation.
Connecting underneath with 6 does not help White.
After Black 7, White still has the shortage of liberties problem.
White variation.
If White 2 tries to capture the Black stone, Black
connects out with 3. White cannot make 2 eyes.
