WEEK 10 - small spaces: alive, dead or unsettled?

MATERIALS YOU'LL NEED: 9x9 demo board, class Go sets

LIFE AND DEATH TECHNIQUES: when you have a space of 5 points or under, is it alive (meaning it doesn't matter whose turn it is), dead, or unsettled (meaning it depends on whose turn it is)

Go over each of the following shapes and have the class guess which of the three possibilities it is, then demonstrate it on the board.

3 in a row (unsettled)

4 in a row (alive)

Square four (dead)

T shape 4 (unsettled)

Radial 5 (unsettled)

   SEKI: A special form of life, explain about seki.
