This exciting round 8 game ends in a razor thin half point win. But before that, sustained large scale fighting made that close game outcome seem highly unlikely. And the lower right corner becomes a pro level life and death problem, for which Calvin gives some interesting variations.

Calvin Sun 1P, an AGA certified professional, had been a mainstay of the youth go scene for over a decade. He first came to national attention when he was just 7 years old, and became a finalist in the 2005 Redmond Cup. He went on to win the Redmond Cup the following year, and was the reigning Junior Champion the year after as well. Already 6 dan by the age of ten, he dominated most of the events he played in, and represented the US at the World Youth Goe Championships an unprecedented seven times. Sun was a student of Mingjiu Jiang 7P, and now lives in Berkeley, CA.
