After an early fight, Black appears to have a lead. When White tries to create complications, instead of playing safe, Black risks everything by not backing down from the fight. With his analysis, Calvin gives us a glimpse at just how cool and accurate Black’s reading is in the resulting fight, which of course also has kos. Wu Hao 2p went on to become champion of the 2017 U.S. Masters.

Calvin Sun 1P, an AGA certified professional, had been a mainstay of the youth go scene for over a decade. He first came to national attention when he was just 7 years old, and became a finalist in the 2005 Redmond Cup. He went on to win the Redmond Cup the following year, and was the reigning Junior Champion the year after as well. Already 6 dan by the age of ten, he dominated most of the events he played in, and represented the US at the World Youth Goe Championships an unprecedented seven times. Sun was a student of Mingjiu Jiang 7P, and now lives in Berkeley, CA.
