Dadao Youth Tournament


New Youth Tournament in Los Angeles

The AGA and the American Asia Culture Exchange Association have announced a new youth tournament to take place Jan. 21 in Los Angeles. The one-day, four-round event is being sponsored by AACEA and its founder, California go enthusiast Jingwei Zheng, and supported by The Korea Daily newspaper. Children and teen-agers aged 17 and younger on the date of the tournament may play in the rated event. Prizes, including trophies, will be awarded in up to four rank divisions, along with other special prizes such as youngest player; it expected about 30 kids will attend. Please pre-register by sending an e-mail to tournament director Yixian Zhou at yixian_zhou@hotmail.com. The event will go from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 10am to 6pm at the Korea Daily Education Center, 690 Wilshire Place, Los Angeles.

This is a child friendly tournament, open to all players under the age of 18 who can finish a 19x19 game. The time periods will be faster than our usual tournament play (30 minutes to a side, rather than 45 minutes). The overtime will be the same (5 periods of 30 seconds). There will be book and equipment prizes. Players must be members of the American Go Association ($10/year), but the tournament is free. To join the AGA, go to:

2017 PGC Championship

This is a flexible schedule tournament played over a period of two months. Games played at Powell's Books on Tuesdays or Lucky Lab Pub on Sundays, or both. Open and handicap sections available. Play a minimum of four games against four different opponents to be eligible for title and prizes. AGA membership (not "one-day pass") mandatory. To register, go to goclubs.org and create an individual account. Then, edit your preferences for your account to show "Portland Go Club." Then on the Home page under Clubs, click the "join" icon for the PGC if you want to be officially a member of the club. Finally, under Tournaments follow the link and complete the registration form. All players must register online by January 30, 2017.

Salt City Go Tournament

Come play in our 10th Annual Salt City Go Tournament!

This is a 4-round AGA-rated paired tournament. The top three finishers in our A Division will receive cash prizes, and every participant will get to select a nice prize at the end of the day (new go books from Slate and Shell and other go-related prizes).

Location: Manlius Pebble Hill School, 5300 Jamesville Rd.
Registration: 8:15 to 9:15 AM, with first round beginning at 9:30 AM.
