About this event
The Evanston Go Club is hosting the 2023 Chicago Rapid Championship, a one-day, five-round tournament.
Event Highlights:
Cultural Hub: The tournament draws Go lovers nationwide, with the 2023 Chicago Open in May attracting traveling players from over 15 states.
Rapid Format: The tournament will feature time settings of 25 min + 10 s Fischer time for an intense day of Go.
Inclusive Divisions: Our improved two-rank band system using McMahon pairing allows players of all levels a chance to win.
Prizes: We are excited to introduce cash prizes for divisions 12 kyu and higher, along with trophies, plaques, or medals for all divisions.
Food: Recharge with an optional lunch from Tealicious Bubble Tea and an onsite post-tournament Mediterranean dinner buffet from Dengeos. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available.
Diverse Merchandise: Discover NEW products at our equipment sale, including bags (that fit Go boards!) with art by local artists Danielle and Gavin Wallace.
Discounts: Enjoy a discounted tournament fee for groups of 5 or more and a 10% discount off the equipment sale for the top two winners in all divisions.
