Fresh from holding the 14th Annual San Diego Go Championship in May, the San Diego Go Club is hosting a 2-day Go workshop and Blitz tournament in June, next week.
The San Diego Go Club will be organizing a double feature event at the EF Language School in Point Loma (3455 Kenyon Street, San Diego, CA, 92110) with its first ever Blitz Tournament & three Go Workshops presented by Cho Seokbin on June 14th-June 15th:
1) Beginner's "Foundations of Go" Workshop for 30 kyu - 20 kyu Players
2) Intermediate's "Breaking through: Strategies to Shodan" Workshop for 10 kyu-1kyu Players
3) Advanced "Go Beyond Dan: Masterclass with Cho Seokbin" Workshop for High Dan Players
Born in Korea, Cho Seokbin first learned to play Go as a Korean Insei (i.e. student) in Seoul, and now currently lives in Nagoya, Japan where he runs a Go Club and school called "Nakamura Honinbo". Since then, six of his students have become professional Go players in Japan!
Registrants will have access to a complimentary breakfast in the morning and lunch will be provided by Rubio's Coastal Grill where attendees will be able to build themselves a Two-Taco Plate with their choice of protein (Chicken, Steak, Shrimp, Mahi, Fried Fish) as well as beans, rice, and chips for sides. There will be chances for seconds afterwards as well!
The following general Schedule will take place on both days over the weekend:
- Breakfast Opens at 8:30AM
- Check in from 9:00am-9:30am
- Rubios Catering Lunch from 12:00pm-1pm
- Tournament Rounds & Go Workshops will run from 10am to 3pm with simultaneous games with Cho Seokbin in the evening on Saturday (and early afternoon on Sunday)
AGA membership is required to register for this event. Those registering for the 13x13 Beginners Tournament have free entry to this event. Ticket Entries for the Handicap Section are $30 for Youth & $40 for Adults, and the Open Section has a $50 entry fee. Spectator Meal Tickets are $15 per day ($30 for both days).
