Ward Grins In Cheshire:

Winner David Ward 3d (Cambridge) had the last grin when the Cheshire tournament returned after a year gap for the British in Chester and ran again alongside the Frodsham Chess Tournament on February 13. Ward beat Sam Aitken 3d (Warwick) in the final. In the Handicap Section, Justin Neeves 7k (Manchester) was the winner at 5-0. On 4/5 were Jack Ley 8k (Warwick) and Brian Timmins 9k (Shrewsbury). Jamie Taylor 5k (York) was the top junior winning 3-2. 28 players took part.
