Road to WAGC 2025 – Part 4
With the World Amateur Go Championship (WAGC) 2025 set to take place in Vancouver, BC, starting this Sunday, all eyes are on this year’s North American representatives as they prepare to compete on home turf.
Canada – Brady Bei Ming Zhang (7d)
Brady (bottom right) began playing Go at age six and is currently studying engineering. When he’s not playing Go, he enjoys basketball, music, and the outdoors.
United States – Alan Huang (7d)
Alan (top right) is one of the strongest amateur players in North America, with a 5th place finish at WAGC 2023 and three North American Masters titles (2019, 2022, 2023). He trains with AI, and enjoys chess, coding, and rock climbing.
Mexico – Héctor Ernesto Espinosa Fuentes (1k)
A dedicated promoter of Go in Mexico, Héctor (left) is a philosophy student, fiction writer, and host of the Serpent Go Club in CDMX.
