I am resuming my reports on the Japanese Go scene after a long gap, but first I would like to catch up by summarizing the results of tournaments held in 2024 after my last E-Journal report, which was published on March 24, 2024. These results are listed below in order of the date on which each title was decided. The prize money is also given.
- Women’s Meijin (35th): Fujisawa Rina defeated Ueno Asami 2-0 (April 17). League record: 6-0. ¥10M.
- Judan (62nd): Iyama Yuta beat Shibano Toramaru 3-2 (April 30). ¥7M.
- Teikei Group Cup New Stars (3rd): Shibano Meijin beat Seki Kotaro 2-0 (May 4). ¥10M.
- Honinbo (79th): Ichiriki defeated Yo Seiki 3-0 (May 30). ¥8.5M.
- Hollyhock Cup (11th): Ueno Asami defended vs. Mukai Chiaki 2-0 (June 16). ¥7M.
- Senko Cup (9th): Fujisawa beat Ueno by 2.5 points (July 14). ¥8M.
- Gosei (49th): Iyama swept Shibano 3-0 (July 19). ¥8M.
- Teikei Legends (3rd): Kataoka Satoshi beat Kobayashi Satoru by 2.5 points (Aug. 4). ¥5M.
- Agon Kiriyama Cup (31st): Ichiriki edged Shibano by half a point (Sept. 25). ¥10M.
- King of the New Stars (49th): Miura Taro beat Fujii Koki 2-0 (Oct. 1). ¥2M.
- Meijin (49th): Ichiriki defeated Shibano 4-2 (Oct. 31). League: 8-0. ¥30M.
- Ryusei (33rd): Fukuoka Kotaro beat Iyama by resignation (Oct. 31). ¥6M.
- SGW Cup Golden Mean (7th): Akiyama Jiro beat Anzai Nobuaki by resignation (Nov. 3). ¥2M.
- Women’s Honinbo (43rd): Fujisawa beat Nyu Eiko 3-2 (Nov. 15).
- Crown (65th): Ida Atsushi defeated Mutsuura Yuta by 3.5 points, winning for the 9th year in a row (Nov. 27). ¥1.7M.
- Tengen (50th): Ichiriki beat Shibano 3-1 (Nov. 28). ¥12M.
- Hiroshima Aluminum Cup (19th): Yokotsuka Riki beat Hirose Yuichi by resignation (Dec. 1). ¥3M.
- Oza (72nd): Iyama defeated Shibano 3-1 (Dec. 6). ¥14M.
