The 2025 U.S. Go Congress Lightning Tournament lived up to its name Monday night, with fast-

paced action across all ranks and an impressive number of undefeated players. Out of 106 total competitors, 12 emerged with perfect records, showcasing sharp reflexes and steady hands under pressure.
One of the most thrilling events of the annual US Go Congress, the Lightning Tournament once again highlighted both emerging talent and veteran skill across the board.
Leading the pack was Ting Fen Yin 7d, the tournament’s top-ranked winner. Other standout performances came from James Sedgwick 6d, Yuxiao Wang 5d, and Kaixuan Liu 4d, each finishing 5-0 in their respective dan-level tables.
In the mid ranks, Alex Fan-Cui 3d, Kevin Fong 2d, and Thomas Gehrt 1d also posted perfect scores. On the kyu side, players like Jerry Luo 1k, Patrick Sun 3k, and Joe Zhang 4k held their own in tightly-contested groups.
Lower kyu divisions saw undefeated runs from Joonha Lee (5k), Seongwon Choi (6k), and Enyi Zou (11k), while Levi Edwards (17k) finished strong at 3-0.
“Amazing number of undefeated,” marveled TD Keith Arnold. Championship playoffs will be held on Tuesday.
