Yuan-Jyun Wang 9p delivered a flawless performance at the 2025 North American Masters Tournament, including a critical 5th-round victory over 2024 NAMT champion Seonghoon On 9d, the only other undefeated player, which proved to be the tournament’s turning point.

A trio of professionals—Ryan Li 4p, Cheng-Hao Hsiao 9p, and Alexander Qi 1p—rounded out the top five, each finishing with strong 5-2 records and fighting hard in one of the toughest U.S. Masters fields to date.

Further down the leaderboard, pros and top amateurs alike battled in tightly matched games across all seven rounds. Notables with 4-3 finishes included Henry Yu 2p, Haoran Wang 7d, and Brady Zhang 7d, while a strong pack of 6- and 7-dans with three wins showed just how deep the talent runs in North American Go.

Here are the official prize-winners:
1st: Yuan-Jyun Wang 9P; 2nd: Seongwon On 9D; 3rd: Ryan Li 4P; 4th: Cheng-Hao Hsiao 9P; 5th: Alexander Qi 1P; 6th: ZhaoNian Chen 1P.
Top North American players: Ryan Li, Alexander Qi, ZhaoNian Chen and Henry Yu.
TD: Karoline Li

With a mix of high-stakes play, surprise upsets, and world-class skill on display, the 2025 U.S. Masters once again proved to be one of the highlights of the U.S. Go Congress—showcasing the strength of both emerging and established players at the top of the North American scene.
