And then there were four. Guanyu Song 7d, Qiyou Wu 7d, Michael Xu 6d and Eric Yoder 6d
topped their respective divisions in the NAGF ProQual round-robin and moved on to the semi-finals. Song was undefeated in Division 1, while Xu went 3-1; Wu and Yoder were each 4-1 in Division 2. Click here for complete match results.
The semifinals—best-of-three—kicked off right after Tuesday’s lunch break. Song took Game 1 over Wu by resignation, and Yoder upset Xu after a late endgame swing: Xu led by about 10 points but, playing fast, missed a crafty throw-in.
