Registration is now open for the 2026 Amateur Senko Cup North America Qualifier. The winner of the qualifier will be invited to Tokyo, Japan to compete as the representative of North America in the 2026 Senko Cup World Amateur Women's Go Championship between March 12-14, 2025. The organizers will cover the local transportation expenses, lodging, meals, and 50% of the airfare.
Any female player with US, Canadian, or Mexican citizenship and an association rank of 5 dan or higher is eligible to play in the qualifier. The qualifier will take place online on the KGS Go Server with the first two rounds on December 14th and the final round on December 20th. This schedule is tentative and may change depending on the number of participants, but will be held within those two weekends. The deadline to register for the qualifier is Sunday, December 7th. The Senko Cup is an annual female tournament organized by the Nihon Ki-in and sponsored by SENKO Group Holdings Co., Ltd. The main tournament consists of top female pros plus the winner of the previous year's amateur tournament. The amateur tournament is 3 rounds single-elimination and consists of 8 players from Europe, Southeast Asia, Oceania, and North America. The top cash prize for the amateur tournament is 300,000 JPY.
