Six Seasons of Vermont Go Set for 2026

Chris Garlock | Published on 12/15/2025

The Vermont Go Club has announced Six Seasons of Vermont Go, a new yearlong series of AGA-rated tournaments planned for 2026, offering players six chances throughout the year to compete and connect across the seasons.
The series will open with the Vermont Winter Go Tournament on Saturday, January 17, 2026, hosted at the Main Street Landing Performing Arts Center on the Burlington waterfront. Additional events are planned for March 28 (Mud Season self-paired), April 25 (Spring tournament), late July (Summer tournament), October 24 (Vermont Go Championship and Fall tournament), and November 21 (Stick Season self-paired).

Tournament formats will vary by season, with McMahon tournaments for the traditional four seasons, self-paired formats for Mud Season and Stick Season, and a knockout division at the championship to determine the top Vermonter. Players who participate in all six events will earn a special series award.

Organizers note that the summer event, currently slated for July 25, may shift to July 18 to avoid overlap with the 2026 U.S. Go Congress in Boston. All other dates are confirmed.

While Vermont weather is famously unpredictable, the club promises welcoming venues, a strong community atmosphere, and plenty of high-quality Go throughout the year. Registration for the Winter tournament is now open at vermontgo.org, with additional registration details to be announced as the year approaches.
