Kim Takes Open at Second Eternal Cup Southern California Go Championship

The Second Eternal Cup Southern California Go Championship was held January 17–18, drawing 85 players from across the United States and featuring one of the strongest Open fields in U.S. regional tournament history.

In the Open Section, Korean insei Dohyup Kim finished a perfect 6–0 to claim the title, sealing the victory with a dramatic half-point win over Calvin Sun in the final round.


Section winners across the tournament included Jalong Han (High Dan, 4D–3D), Peter Chen (Low Dan, 2D–1D), Olive Long (Strong Kyu, 1K–4K), Seongwon Choi (Mid Kyu, 5K–8K), and Cyris Sargon (Beginner Kyu).


With its deep Open division and broad national participation, the Second Eternal Cup continues to establish itself as a premier Southern California Go event.
