It was a beautiful day on the Lake Champlain waterfront in Burlington, Vermont, as players
gathered for the 2026 Vermont Spring Go Tournament on Saturday, April 25. The event drew 14 participants from Vermont, Massachusetts, and Maine, ranging in rank from 25 kyu to 2 dan—and in age from 9 to 84.
First place went to Harvy (Chengxi) Yu (4k), the youngest competitor in the field, who finished with a perfect 3–0 record. Wren Perchlik (8k) also went 3–0 to take second place, while Jonathan Green (2k) placed third with a 2–1 record.
All players with winning records selected prizes from sponsors of the 2026 tournament series, including BOARD N’ STONES, Yunguseng Dojang, Shelburne Farms, Go Magic, The Skinny Pancake, Flynn Theater for the Performing Arts, and Baduk Club.
The Six Seasons of Vermont Go continues on July 18 with the 2026 Vermont Summer Go Tournament—an excellent opportunity to play AGA-rated games the weekend before the Boston Go Congress. Registration is now open here.
