Crowded Leaderboard Highlights Strength of Canadian Open Field

The race for the 2026 Canadian Open title is already beginning to take shape after two rounds, with eight players remaining undefeated in the top division.

Leading the field is Wei Qiu 6d, who sits atop the standings on tiebreaks after opening with two straight wins. Joining him at 2-0 are Bill Lin 1p, Qiyou Wu 7d, Brady Zhang 7d, Rémi Campagnie 6d, Hongyi Li 6d, Andrew Huang 6d, and Daniel Zhou 5d.

Close behind is a large group of players at 1-1, including Tianyi Chen 6d, Zihao Liu 6d, Leo Tan 6d, Zhiyuan Zhang 6d, Tony Zhao 6d, Ivan Lo 6d, Michael Xu 5d, Hyunseo Park 5d, Shanxu Wang 5d, Chit Lam Cheung 5d, Kaiyuan Yang 5d, Peter Yang 5d, Ryon Yi 5d, and Jason Zheng 5d.

With four rounds still to play, Sunday's third-round pairings promise several key matchups among the undefeated leaders as the field begins to separate. Click here for latest standings.
