We would like to inform all AGA members that, over the past few years, there have been multiple allegations of unauthorized AI use in AGA-sanctioned online tournaments. The AGA Fair Play Committee relies on a panel of elite amateur and professional players to evaluate all allegations of cheating. We operate under a presumption of innocence and confirm allegations only when the available evidence meets the standard of clear and convincing evidence. The Committee may also take other actions it deems appropriate without making such a finding.
Sanctions for unauthorized AI use may include disqualification from the tournament and suspension from all AGA-sanctioned events, both online and in person, for an appropriate period of time. Following completed investigations, official sanctions have been levied against players in cases where unauthorized AI use was confirmed.
The mission of the AGA Fair Play Committee is to preserve the integrity of competition within the AGA. We take every allegation of cheating seriously and are committed to conducting fair and thorough investigations. At the same time, we will not tolerate cheating at any level of play. We hope this statement reassures our members that maintaining fair competition is one of the AGA's highest priorities. Players should know that credible allegations are carefully investigated, due process is followed, and confirmed violations result in meaningful disciplinary action.
