Shiqin Song went undefeated to claim the North Carolina State Championship at the 25th
Memorial Tournament, held September 26 at Umstead State Park in Raleigh.
Thirty-nine players competed, joined by parents, friends and supporters for a day of go in beautiful weather. Song finished 4–0, while runner-up Sheng Huo’s only loss came against the new champion.

Siekierski, Harrison and Tregeagle also posted perfect 4–0 records. Nine participants were playing in their first AGA tournament, including Section E runner-up Mantica. Organizers hope to welcome them back for many more.
