The 1st Annual San Diego Go Blitz Championship is hosted by the San Diego Go Club! We are also hosting a Go Workshop, presented by Cho Seok-bin, alongside this tournament intended for three different rank categories:
1) Beginner's "Foundations of Go" Workshop for 30 kyu - 20 kyu Players
2) Intermediate's "Breaking through: Strategies to Shodan" Workshop for 10 kyu-1kyu Players
3) Advanced "Go Beyond Dan: Masterclass with Cho Seok-bin" Workshop for High Dan Players
Born in Korea, Cho Seok-bin first learned to play Go as a Korean Insei (i.e. student) in Seoul, and now currently lives in Nagoya, Japan where he runs a Go Club and school called "Nakamura Honinbo". Since then, six of his students have become professional Go players in Japan!
This is an Open City tournament, and anyone can win the San Diego Blitz Champion title regardless of residency! Go professionals are allowed to play in the Open Section, and you must be at least 2 Dan to be eligible for the Open!
This will be a 5-round Open and 5-Round Handicap Tournament
The Open Section is Limited to 20 seats this year. Should the Open Section fill up, the TD will prioritize players based on rank. You must be at least 2 Dan to be eligible to play in the Open.
The competition will be played at the EF Lanugage School in Point Loma on Saturday June 14th & Sunday June 15th.
Players must register by 11:59 pm Friday, June 13th, 2025 to play in the first round. The first 25 attendees to register will receive a blue ticket for priority line up for lunch on both days of the event! Lunch will be catered by Rubio's Coastal Grill for this event!
Players must have current AGA membership, and will have agreed to have acknowledged and read the AGA Code of Conduct which can be found here: https://www.usgo-archive.org/aga-code-conduct
