The 15th Annual San Diego Go Championship is hosted by the San Diego Go Club. This registration is for the Open Section, which is for 3dan+ strong players, and anyone can win the City Champion title regardless of residency. (A single day 3-round Handicap section is listed as a separate tournament in GoClubs.org. If you plan to play in the handicap section please register for that event instead.) This 5 round Open Section will be played over 2 days (Saturday & Sunday) and complimentary breakfast & lunch will be provided for Open Players on both days.

GO PROFESSIONAL ELIGIBILITY
Go professionals are allowed to play in the Open, and are eligible for the Overall Tournament Winner prize pool. Go Professionals can also win the San Diego City Champion Title, and have their name added to the perpetual plaque of Champions!

OPEN SECTION ELIGIBILITY & REQUIREMENTS
The Open Section is Limited to 20 seats this year. (4/15/2026 Update: Nine players have registered! 11 spots left for the Open!) Should the Open Section fill up, the TD will prioritize players based on rank. To participate in the Open Section you must be 3 Dan or higher. Additionally, all players in the Open Section are required to be present for all their scheduled matches, and anyone that doesn't show up for their scheduled matches after 20 mins will be counted as a Loss + Time Forfeit (unless it is a Family/Medical Emergency!) These are important matches not just for other players that travel great distances to compete at this event, but also our online go community at large that are looking forward for matches to start on time
