About this event
San Diego Go Club will again host the California Senior State Go Championship (winner is the California resident who is at least 55-years old by the end of 2026).
The three-round handicap AGA-rated tournament will again be held at the home of the SDGC's former president, Ted Terpstra. Come to compete or just for the nice view of Mission Bay. There is no entry fee, no prizes, no trophies... just a chance to renew old friendships, play Go., and maybe win the title
A free lunch with beverages will be provided. Please notify Ted.Terpstra@gmail.com if there are dietary restrictions or questions about the tournament (or call 619/384-3454 and leave a message).
A new feature this year is that the elevator and the lift are complete, so players do not have any stairs to negotiate if they want. But one can do the 43-stairs down from the street to the Japanese garden in the backyard.
Free registration and full details are available at https://www.GoClubs.org.
Registration closes on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 11:59 p.m.
Current AGA membership is required.
Board one will be played on a floor board made from an 800-year-old Kaya tree (board is placed on a short table for those of us who cannot sit on the floor to play). #38 thickness slate and shell stones will be provided.
Come for a fun day of Go with contemporaries, share some stories of the AGA early days, and stay for the sunset over the Pacific Ocean.
