Texas State Championship

The Open section will result in the naming of a 2018 Texas State Champion. In parallel, we will also have a handicap section for others wishing to compete, but not for the state title.

All players must be AGA members and to compete for the state championship, you must reside of Texas.

Join us for 3 to 4 rounds of Go or If you wish to play in fewer rounds please let the TD know upon arrival. If games are done sooner, we can play more rounds. The TD will pair up the players for each round with the appropriate handicap.

KABA Go Club Open House in Annandale Virginia (DC Metro)

Korean American Baduk Association (KABA) welcomes AGA members to the Open House 10/13 and 10/20, Saturdays, starting 11am. The go center has 15 tables and can accomodate 30 players (photo attached). There are regular kyu and dan players. Most players range 5kyu to 4 dan, but sometime 7-dan players come play as well.

The location is in center of Annandale VA, convenient, and only minutes after exiting #52 from Hwy 495. A lot of restaurants nearby are in walking distance. Address: 7202 Poplar St, Suite A, Annandale VA 22003

KABA proudly announce that it became an AGA chapter club and joined the AGA family. There will be free coffee and Korean snacks/deserts. Regular KABA day-pass is $15 but discounted to $10 for AGA members. Only need to pay if playing, and no charge to watch or hang out.

Vermont Go Championship

The Vermont Go Championship will be a single elimination three-round AGA rated no handicap tournament consisting of the top eight players in Vermont. There will be a Vermont Fall Tournament (with handicaps) held simultaneously for all other players so that everyone gets to play three rounds. Must pre-register with Peter Schumer at schumer@middlebury.edu. Make sure to renew AGA memberships ahead of time. The tournament will be held on campus at Middlebury College.

2018 NM State Go Championship

Even games played in the Open Section will determine the NM State Champion from qualified players. Handicap games played in the Handicap Section will determine winners in our 2018 Fall Go Tournament.

Players can play in either section. Qualified Open Section players with at least 6 months residency in New Mexico in the past 12 months will be eligible for the NM State Championship awards.

Both sections will be AGA rated tournaments with three rounds.

Box Lunches are included for online registrants! So online registration is strongly requested via https://www.goclubs.org/.

Please note that AGA IDs should be obtained for otherwise non AGA members beforehand.

Seattle Go Center Monthly Ratings Tournament

This is a great way to play some intense face-to-face Go! Three rounds, Japanese rules. You do not have play all 3 rounds (just inform the Tournament Director of your plans).

The tournament is free of charge, though the Go Center membership policies apply: younger than 18 free, first 10 visits free; otherwise, $5 for one-day membership (see http://www.seattlego.org/membership/ for other options). And you need to be a current AGA member -- https://www.usgo.org/members/login to join or renew. You can join / renew in person at the Go Center, but please come early to do that.

Registration is from 10:00 - 10:45 sharp, and the first round starts at 11:00. If you come before 12:30 and register, you will probably be able to play in the second round, which starts by 1:30 (but may start sooner).

2018 New York Youth Open

Welcome to 2018 New York Youth Open!

Players of all strengths are welcome!
Please register at www.ny-go.org. The deadline for registration is Sunday, November 11, 2018. AGA membership is required.

Tournament Rules:
Where: New York Institute of Go: 255-05 Northern Blvd. 2F, Little Neck, NY 11362
Rule Set: AGA, Swiss-style, 19 x 19 board
Time Limit: Open sections: 30 minutes main time and 3 periods of 20 second Byo-yomi
Kyu sections: 30 minute absolute time
Komi (Open sections): All games are even, 7.5 points komi
Handicaps (Kyu sections): AGA rules: 9 stones handicap maximum, regardless of further rank difference. 1 rank difference = 1 stone, 2 ranks difference = 2 stones, … and so forth.

Tournament Schedule: The tournament will be held on Saturday November 17, 2018. Here is the preliminary schedule:

2018 California State Go Championship

The first annual California State Go Championship is sponsored by the San Diego Go Club. It is a 5-round, 2-day AGA-rated competition that has both Open and Handicapped Sections. The winner of the Open will be crowned the 2018 California State Go Champion and will be the first to have her/his name inscribed on a permanent trophy and will also receive a personal trophy. There will be $500 in prize money and trophies for the Handicapped band champions.

Entry is FREE but players must pre-register by 11:59 p.m. Thanksgiving evening, November 22 to play in the first round. Players are allowed to play only one of the days. Everyone can play but only California residents can become Champion. The event will be held at the San Diego Chess Club in Balboa Park. The park is home to the World Famous San Diego Zoo, the Japanese Friendship Garden and nine museums, so non-players can have their choice of things to do.

Syracuse Fall Self-Pair Tournament

Our annual self-pair tourney will take place on Saturday, December 1 at the Community Library of DeWitt and Jamesville (5110 Jamesville Rd). The games are relaxed (or not), the people are friendly (definitely), and all the players are above average (though not necessarily in their playing strength). Games are AGA-rated.

Stay for the whole day (10:30 AM to 4:30 PM) and play several games or just stop by for a game or two. Cost is just $10 to register, and every player gets to select a new go book or other go-related item to take home at the end of the day. We'd love to have you let us know at our tournament Facebook event if you're coming.

Gala Night of Pair Go

Join us for this great holiday event, with two rounds of Pair Go, cake, prizes, and lots of fun! Ten dollars general admission, five dollars for voting members and youth (under 18). We will be following International Pair Go Rules. Each pair must have a female and a male, of any age. Registration will be from 5:00 to 5:30 PM on the day of the tournament, Saturday, December 16; we will finish around 10 PM.
This is not an official Pair Go competition, so formal dress is encouraged, but not required.

Jin Chen Tournament

The Jin Chen is the biggest tournament of the year at the Seattle Go Center. This tournament has cash prizes, with the first place prize in the Open section winning $300. The Open section will be limited to the top 8 players who register. There also will be cash prizes for players who win all three of their games in the Handicap section.

There is an entry fee of $10 for youth and voting members, and $15 for all others. The tournament is AGA rated, so please make sure your AGA membership is up to date at www.usgo.org . Registration is the day of the tournament, from 10:00 to 10:30 AM.
