Third Annual California Go Championship
The 2020 California Go Championship will be held the Saturday and Sunday after Thanksgiving (November 28 & 29, 2020). It will be a 5-round tournament with Open and Handicap sections. California Go Champions will be crowned in the Open and Kyu sections as well as U16 Boy and U16 Girl. All players are welcome to play, but one must be a California resident or student to win a title.

Registration opens on GoClubs.org on November 1, 2020. The decision will have been made by then to have this a face-to-face competition (at the San Diego Chess Club) or and online (KGS) event.

AGA membership is required in both cases.

Entry fee will be $20 for adults and $10 for youth if this is a live tournament.
There will be at least $1,000 in prize money if the tournament is face-to-face.
Entry fee is free in the case of an online event.
Online there will be no cash prizes but champions will be crowned and the Open winner will have his or her name engraved on the permanent plaque along with Calvin Sun 1P and Evan Lin 7-dan.

9th Virginia Open & 2nd VA State Championship Qualifier

The Capital Go Club is proud to announce the 9th Virginia Open & 2nd VA State Championship Qualifier held on KGS on Saturday, Dec 5 and Sunday, Dec 6, 2020.

Entrance fee is free for AGA members, and $10 for non-AGA members. The fee will be collected by PayPal.

Featuring five rounds spanning two days, with open, expert (1-4D), intermediate (5-1K), novice (6K and below) division. Winners of open division will be awarded $100, $50 and $25, while $20 and $10 for all other divisions. Female and youth winners (aged 17 and below) also get additional $20 or $10. Books are also available as rewards. Rewards are sponsored by Honest401k team.

Top 4 Virginia resident players will compete for the VA Champion in Jan 2021. AGA has provided state champions with perpetual trophies.

Open division has 4 rounds at 11:30 am, 3 am, 7pm on Saturday and 3pm on Sunday. All other divisions have 4 rounds at 11:30 am, 2 pm, 5pm and 7:30 pm on Saturday.
