Fan Tingyu 9p shows nearly perfect technique throughout this game. After building up an advantage in the opening, Fan leaves Motoki Katsuya 9p no choice but to leave weak groups in an attempt to even the game.

Hajin gives this summary of the players: Fan Tingyu is one of the top players from China and is known for his title from the 7th Ing Cup in 2013. Motoki Katsuya is a rising star in Japan and was a challenger to the Honinbo title against Iyama Yuta in 2017. The Nongshim Cup is a team competition among Korea, China, and Japan with a “win and continue” format. Each team has five players, and the team that survives until last wins. This game is from the 4th round.

Hajin Lee is a former professional player from Korea, and hosts her own Go channel on YouTube. Lee holds an MBA from the University of Geneva and now works as a software developer at a tech startup in Mountain View, California.
