This event will take place at Umstead State Park and will feature generous cash prizes in all sections as well as trophies. PREREGISTRATION IS REQUIRED for this event. To participate you must register before 6:00 PM Friday, September 29th. The location of this event is shelter #2, at the Reedy Creek entrance to the park. To get to the Reedy Creek entrance coming from Durham, take I-40 to exit 287 (Cary/Harrison Ave) and turn left onto N. Harrison Ave, crossing the I-40 overpass. The Reedy Creek entrance is less than 1/4 mile. To get to the Reedy Creek entrance coming from Raleigh, take I-40 to exit 287 (Cary/Harrison Ave) and turn right onto N. Harrison Ave. The Reedy Creek entrance is less than 1/8 mile. After you enter the parking area, continue straight into the area to the far right corner (see image at left). The shelter is located about 20 yards south of the parking lot. We will have signs posted to help you locate the site. The location is on the Cary side of Umstead Park and is accessible via I-40 to Harrison Avenue. Do not use the Umstead entrance on US Hwy 70. There is no connection to the Reedy Creek entrance from US Hwy 70. Jeff Kuang will be the Tournament Director. Time settings will be 45 minutes main time, with 5 byo-yomi periods of 30 seconds each. This is an AGA rated tournament. Current AGA members enter at their actual AGA ratings, unless cleared by the Tournament Director to self-promote. Entry costs are $30 for adults and $15 for youths 21 years old and younger. Please renew your AGA membership online before the tournament. You must be a current AGA member to participate. AGA membership or renewal forms will be available at the tournament but all fees must be paid before you can play.

Registration for the 2023 California State Over-65 Go Championship is at Go.Clubs.org. Registration closes on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. This is an AGA rated 3-round handicapped tournament for seniors. Free entry and lunch. No prizes, no trophies. The winner gets the title of 2023 California Over-65 Go Champion. Players must be 65-years-old or older in 2023. To win the title, the player must be a resident of the state of California. But any senior can play (pros to beginners are welcome). 30-minutes per player and 5-periods of 30 seconds Byo-yomi. Board one will be played on a floor board made from an 800-year-old Kaya tree (board is placed on a short table for those who cannot sit on the floor to play). #42 thickness slate and shell stones will be provided. Current AGA membership is required. Come for a fun day of go with contemporaries and stay for the sunset over the Pacific Ocean (6:07 p.m.)

All games are played using AGA Rules, with each player receiving 45 minutes of playing time plus 5 blocks of 30 seconds Byo-yomi (TD reserves the right to modify this as needed for the tournament, but will guarantee ruleset and time constraints abide by AGA requirements for Ranked Tournaments). There will be 3 rounds of play on Saturday, and 2 rounds on Sunday followed by an award ceremony. All players play in all rounds.

Time settings will be Japanese Byo-Yomi with 30min of Main time, plus an additional 5 overtime periods of 30sec each. There are two divisions. The top division is an Open section for strong players (no handicap provided). The lower division is a Handicap section for beginners. Prizes for the top 3 finishers in each division will be provided. The title of 2023 Colorado State Champion will go to the Colorado resident that finishes highest in the Open section.
